Drummer Oscar Suchanek is always looking to discover new possibilities in music. Along with creativity, precision, and a solid foundation, Suchanek brings powerful drumming traditions to stage, studio, and classroom. Born in Cambridge MA, Suchanek began playing drums at 6 years old, and was already gigging in Boston by the time he was 12. He studied at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and then went on to receive his bachelors degree from Berklee College of Music.
At Berklee he performed with such jazz heavyweights as Terrence Blanchard, Paquito D’Rivera, and Dayna Stephens. During his student years he also discovered a keen interest in writing, recording, and working in a studio setting, and was also chosen as a semi-finalist for the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Drum Competition in 2012. Oscar continues to be recognized as one of the east coast’s versatile drummers and currently performs and tours with The Mark Zaleski Band, Leah Rich, Thinkin’ Big, and other contemporary artists. “I love making music because it gives me a chance to tell my story and bring out the best in the people around me.”
