The dynamic and powerful drumming of Oscar Suchanek is a reflection of his life experience. Along with creativity, precision, and a solid foundation, Suchanek brings powerful drumming traditions to stage, studio, and classroom. Born in Cambridge, MA, Oscar began playing local venues as a teenager. He took his studies further at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied with Ralph Peterson, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Hal Crook. Oscar continues to be recognized as one of the most versatile drummers on the East Coast. He is currently performing and touring with the Mark Zaleski Band, and a trio project with his father, Bronek Suchanek.
Oscar Suchanek defines everything you could want in a drummer. He plays in every style, he’s a sensitive listener, he’s extremely dynamic, he has a high-level reading ability, he’s an overall great guy to be around, and truly knows how to light a fire under the band at the time when we need it most! He does amazing work with my music (which, according to many reports, is quite challenging), and the Mark Zaleski Band wouldn’t be the same without his swagger.”
